Welcome to Year 5
Here you will find useful information about your child’s learning, including links to learning materials and information about how you can best support them at home.
You will also find information about the current learning and celebrations of the work being undertaken in school.
General Information
Homework is set using either Century Tech or in paper form each week. Homework is sent out each Friday and is due in on the following Wednesday. If you are experiencing any difficulties accessing Century Tech, please contact the school office.
Spellings are set on a Friday to be tested the following week.
How to help your child at home
Children are expected to read at home every night, if possible, but at least 3 times per week. Reading records should be signed by an adult.
Reading books and records need to be in school every day.

This half term we will be learning the following:

Children can access TT Rockstars and Century Tech at home to help them progress further.
English
In Guided reading, our class text for this term is ‘Cosmic’ by Frank Cottrell Boyce.
In English we will be basing our writing around ‘Treason’ by Berlie Doherty.
History
In History this half term we will be learning about Tudor life inlcusing Henry VIII and his wives.
Science
In Science our topic is Forces.
PE
This term, Year 5 will be taking part in Dance.
Our class PE session is every Monday afternoon.
Our EdStart PE sessions are every Wednesday afternoon.
PE kit must be in school from each Monday. Any children that forget their kit will be given spare PE kit to wear.
