Curriculum – What will the children be learning about during this half term?

English – We will continue our learning by responding to a selection of different texts. Our key text this term is ‘Emma’s Lamb’ by Kim Lewis. We will also be exploring other texts and non-fiction. We will continue to practise our phonics for reading and writing as well as developing our communication and language through Talk Time, news sharing and Helicopter Stories.

Maths – We will continue to learn through a mastery approach by using Number Blocks to help us understand concepts of number. Nursery will be learning about positioning and size and will be developing their number skills through counting. Reception will deepen their understanding of number by counting to 20 as well as exploring 2D and 3D shapes, patterns and spatial awareness.

Topic - Our Learning Challenge for this half term is ‘What would you find on the farm?’ We will be finding out all about the farm and what we might find there. We will be having fun experimenting in some STEM activities as well as exploring science activities by finding out about wind. We will be painting pictures of farm animals and making pictures out of wool and will be exploring a range of materials. Reception will also be enjoying finding out about dinosaurs in preparation for our visit to see Dippy in Rochdale.

We are hoping to set a date for some Stay and Play sessions so that families can come and join us in our learning. Keep an eye out for more information.
