Public Health Advice to parents and carers of children at Rochdale schools - 21st October 2021
COVID19 Extended Symptoms
We have received an update from Public Health in relation to extended symptoms of COVID 19. We have now been recommended to advise parents to take children for full PCR tests if they have any of the following symptoms:
1) Fever or chills
2) Continuous cough
3) New loss of taste or smell
4) Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
6) Muscle or body aches
8) Sore throat
9) Congestion or runny nose
10) Nausea or vomiting
Please also be aware that LFT (Lateral Flow Tests) are not to be used if a person has symptoms. Anyone experiencing one of the above symptoms is advised to book a full PCR test and isolate pending the result.
An LFT is only to be used as a checking measure if there are no symptoms present.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office on 01706 642742.
Accessing PCR tests with symptoms that are not the 3 main symptoms
Our PCR sites will ask if someone just turns up and will use the 3 classic symptoms as a screening tool, as will 119, however if someone has pre-booked (either online or via 119) and has a QR code they will never be questioned. Ideally, these PCR tests should be pre-booked online.
Please click below to book online and follow the instructions.
> Click ‘Get a free PCR test online: START NOW’. Click through the questions and tick the box ‘No none of these’ symptoms then follow the questions. Then: ‘Why are you asking for a test?’ they should select ‘My local council or health protection team has asked me to get a test, even though I do not have symptoms
